FAQ’S about the adults beginner drawing class:

  • Drawing classes are 2 hours long and are held on Thursdays 6:30-8:30pm at Kakes and Biscuits, Casuarina (behind Lolita’s Cantina). Our terms are loosely based on the NSW school term (8 - 10 weeks).

  • There are two payment options: Pay for the term up-front to receive a discount ($55 per class) OR pay each week casually for $65 per class (this option is only available when there's spare spots in class).

  • You’ll be taught by professional artist Anne Smerdon

  • Students BYO materials to class. Please view the drawing material list.

  • Absolutely! Even if you can “only draw stick-figures” we will have you sketching and shading with confidence in no time! If you’re okay with drawing but want a little extra guidance and theory, this course is for you too. We cover all bases with this in-depth drawing course.

  • Absolutely! You can never stop learning about drawing. Each term we focus on similar principles but with different artwork references. So you’ll never be drawing the same artwork twice. For example, for our class focused on “blending” we may teach pencil blending techniques one term and then charcoal techniques the next. For our module on “texture” we may focus on human hair one term, but fur, bark or glass the next terms. There’s a never-ending supply of things to learn when it comes to drawing!

  • If you can’t attend your class, don’t worry. You won’t miss out! Class notes will be emailed to you with photos of each of the steps and detailed instructions, so you can create your artwork at home.

  • Your health and safety is of utmost importance. We follow all NSW government advice and guidelines.

By attending our classes you agree to abide by the current local government mandates and regulations, including mask-wearing, hand sanitising, vaccination status, checking-in using the covid-safe QR code and physical distancing. You agree to not attend classes if you show any signs of sickness.

  • If classes cannot run in-person due to government restrictions or lockdowns, classes will be run online via zoom. The zoom class may be scheduled for a different day and time than your usual class time that week, to accommodate our teachers working from home. Recordings will be kept for 7 days for those that cannot make the new class time.
