Artory Alumni: Liv Bonnor

Since the Artory opened its doors in 2016, many students have drawn, painted and created with Anne in the Kingscliff and online art classes. Some started in Anne’s kids art classes, some started as adults. But many have gone on to have creative careers. So where are they now?

Well, we’ve interviewed former Artory student, Liv Bonnor. Liv is now a professional tattoo artist and fine artist and…..we’re proud to introduce her as Artory’s brand new art class party/paint-and-sip teacher! Here’s a little of her back story:

What classes did you take with the Artory (kingscliff art classes or online art classes)?

I did some of the holiday workshops and immediately fell in love with the classes and started the tween art course, then moved up to the teen course and my art skills elevated to the next level. Then I started the adults watercolour class which was my favourite part of my week. I learnt so many new skills and got to create art in such a warm atmosphere.

What are you doing creatively now?

I have recently become a tattoo artist, working with digital design and drawing on an app called procreate. I have been selling custom portraits for buyers through my Instagram, using lead pencils to create my works. I have also dived into surfboard design using posca paint pens.

What medium are you using now?

One of the main focuses in my course is digital drawing and design. Using an iPad and an app called procreate I can create artworks using different brushes and textures all at the touch of a button. But I will never give up my love for charcoal, lead pencils and watercolour, these are the mediums that Anne at the Artory showed me how to use and I still use the skills she taught me in all of my artworks today.

What are the some of the helpful things you learnt from Artory art classes?

The Artory taught me all of the basic skills of how to put a composition together and eventually started elevating those skills into my own style, finding my own voice in the artworks I create. I wouldn’t have the skills I know today without the help and support of Anne, always pushing me to my creative limits in such a fun way and I couldn’t be more thankful for the support the Artory has provided me over the years.

Where can people see your work?

You can find my art and tattooing on instagram @livivyink
