In this class you’ll learn:
How to draw accurately so that your drawing looks like the reference
How to create large drawings from small references
How to get the right tones (dark vs light)
How to create texture and movement in your drawings
The confidence to incorporate charcoal into your painted works - it combines beautifully with watercolour painting!

You’ll be taught by professional tattoo artist Liv Bonnor. Liv has been personally trained by Anne Smerdon for many years. She started off in Anne’s kids classes and progressed on to her adult classes. Liv now runs her own tattoo studio in Casuarina. Charcoal and ink are her two main mediums, along with watercolour which she also teaches at Artory private classes and corporate events. She is an accomplished artist and shares Anne’s philosophies and knowledge in art.

Absolutely! Even if you can “only draw stick-figures” we will have you sketching and shading with confidence in no time! If you’re okay with drawing but want a little extra guidance and theory, this course is for you too. We cover all bases with this in-depth drawing course.

Absolutely! You can never stop learning about drawing. Each term we focus on similar principles but with different artwork references. So you’ll never be drawing the same artwork twice. For example, for our class focused on “blending” we may teach pencil blending techniques one term and then charcoal techniques the next. For our module on “texture” we may focus on human hair one term, but fur, bark or glass the next terms. There’s a never-ending supply of things to learn when it comes to drawing!

If you can’t attend your class, don’t worry. You won’t miss out! Class notes will be emailed to you with photos of each of the steps and detailed instructions, so you can create your artwork at home.
