Art lessons online: Turn your failed watercolour paintings into greeting cards

I’ll be the first one to admit that sometimes a painting just fails. I tell my art students all the time, “the bin is a perfectly acceptable place to file your art”. But there is something you can do with those “failed” artworks before they head to the bin: turn them into greeting cards!

I’ve filmed a little youtube tutorial for you to show you that even the ugliest, worst paintings can make the basis for great cards. We did these in my online painting classes and in my art classes in Kingscliff NSW (near casuarina NSW) and in my Gold Coast art classes, and they turned out great.

You'll need:

  • 1 failed watercolour painting

  • scissors & glue

  • pencil & ruler

  • watercolor paints and brush

  • a jar of water

Follow the steps in the tutorial to save your next watercolor fail! And if you want to learn how to avoid making watercolour failures, try my free watercolour masterclass :

Who am I?

I’m an award-winning professional artist and art teacher from Australia. I’ve been using watercolour, oil and charcoal for 10+ years now, exhibiting and selling my work both nationally and internationally. I’m known for my loose, effortless-looking watercolours and my realistic oil paintings of birds. I’ve won awards, been represented by commercial art galleries and sold my work to high-profile collectors. But the thing I’m most proud of is my art classes!

You see, I’m proud of breaking the stereotype that “some people are naturally creative and some people aren’t”. There is nothing more satisfying than finding someone who “isn’t artistic” or who “can’t draw a stick figure to save themselves” and showing them just how creative they are! And that’s exactly what I do at the Artory.

I’ve run the Artory art school in Kingscliff since 2015 and have hands-on experience teaching adults and children. That means, unlike most other watercolour teachers you'll find online, I’ve spent the last 6 years teaching watercolour to real people in real classes, so I know exactly what mistakes most artists are likely to make and how to help you avoid them.

I’m known for taking my students to the next level without making them feel insecure or overwhelmed. And many of my students have even gone on to sell their work and win art competitions! So if you’re nervous about starting my classes, don’t worry!

I’m here to help you unleash that hidden talent, to virtually hold your hand and help you unlock your creativity. I want to show you just how easy and fun painting with watercolour can be! So grab your materials, grab a cup of tea (or a wine if you fancy!) and get ready to start painting with me!
