Watercolour masterclass
Yippeee! It’s time for the main event: the whale painting! This class is perfect for you if you want to have FUN with your art, loosen up and stop being a perfectionist. I’ve tried and tested this project with my local students and the results were fantastic! You’ll find the references you need in the masterclass workbook. Once you’ve got these, set aside about 30-60 minutes to watch the video and take the class.
SESSION 2: HAVING FUN WITH AN OCEAN SCENE
Materials
You’ll just need 3 colours: a dark red, a dark blue and white. I’m using alizarin crimson (red), phthalo turquoise blue (blue) and white gouache but whatever you have is fine.
In this class you will learn:
Drawing techniques - the foundation of all good painting!
The two main techniques for using watercolour paint: wet-on-wet and wet-on-dry
Which brush to use and which paper to use and why the #1 mistake most beginner watercolorists make is using the wrong materials!
How to use watercolour to create the effect of water
How to let go, loosen up and stop overworking your watercolours
The importance of tones and why your art will always look dull, flat and lifeless without them
How to paint less but achieve more! Let the watercolour do the work so you don’t have to!
